A Comprehensive Approach
Carepointe’s
comprehensive educational approach strives to help children develop in all
areas.
Our goals for young
children are:
1) To learn through active involvement with people, materials, events, and ideas.
2) To become independent, responsible, and confident children of good character: ready for school and ready for life
3) To learn to plan many of their own activities, carry them out, and talk with others about what they have done and what they have learned
4) To gain knowledge and skills in important academic, spiritual, social, and physical areas
Carepointe provides
children with carefully planned experiences in reading, mathematics, and
science. For example, our HighScope curriculum materials and staff development
in the area of literacy are compatible with the latest research findings.
Social and spiritual
development is another important learning area in Carepointe’s programs. We
believe that the social and spiritual development of a child is just as
important as his educational prowess. Chuck Swindoll puts it this way, “People
don’t just care what you know. They want to know that you care.” At Carepointe, that translates to an
approach that develops both your child’s knowledge base and his or her social
skills.
Additionally, we believe that God has provided instruction in the
Scriptures on how we are to treat and care for others and we reinforce those
instructions through both our teaching and actions. Studies continually demonstrate that children in HighScope
classrooms show high levels of initiative.
Teachers further
support social and spiritual development by helping children learn how to
resolve interpersonal conflicts. The National Institute for Child Health and
Human Development stresses that all these areas of academic and socioemotional
growth are essential for school readiness.
